Mnolo is a half El Salvadoran half Nicaraguan music kingpin/beat smuggler. A victim of middle child syndrome, Escobar was born in Pennsylvania to a family of doctors and lawyers, raised in the backwoods of South Texas, and Catholic schooled in the big bad city, San Antonio. Desperate for an outlet for the Central American rhythm coursing through his veins, little Manuel began playing drums at age 5 and never stopped. Escobar eventually traded the drums for a sampler and began producing electronic experimental rhythms. As Mnolo, Escobar creates otherworldly sound environments translating messages of bliss, fervor, fear, love, pain, joy, and anguish. Oh yeah...and he enjoys, freaking drums, layering vocal tapestries, hard drive mixing and long walks in the park. Mnolo (Manuel Antonio Escobar) is an experimental hip-hop and sample based electronic music producer from San Antonio, TX. & the founder and owner of Collage Records. Mnolo discography includes; 'realismo magico: psychological realisms & surreal flights of fancy' & 'ill city'. Both albums feature beats and production by mnolo w/ guest vocals by mc notes, the 2 man hip hop band Walking Sticks which is comprised of mnolo & notes, bringing substance & soul back into the into rap. The album is called 'Lalaland'. Wyle Cherry Posse “ecstatic visions” & EL Salvador are two genre defying electronica projects making it impossible to pigeonhole mnolo's style. He is one of the primary producers for the Texas hip hop collective the Word Association w/ releases 2 to date, Jaysin-‘Scrapmetal’ & The Word Association-‘Lucid’ and has been featured on multiple compilations including Collapsing Culture & When the ice Melts on the experimental electronica label Exponential.
Mnolo is currently producing and performing original hip-hop, laptop mixes, and electronic music in San Antonio, San Marcos, & Austin TX and has an arsenal of releases coming soon.
